KEN CONNOR
Chairman

Ken Connor founded the Center for a Just Society in 2005 with Colin Stewart and Genevieve Wood. He serves as the organization's Chairman and one of its principal spokesmen.

An esteemed attorney, Connor is affiliated with the law firm of Wilkes & McHugh, P.A., a firm nationally known for its successful representation of victims of nursing home abuse and neglect. Well-respected for his legal acumen, Connor has been in the foreground of issues involving the sanctity of human life, nursing home reform, parents' rights, adoption, corrections reform, and others. Most recently, he served as counsel to Governor Jeb Bush in Bush v. Schiavo , one of the country's most watched cases in the long-running legal battle to protect a severely disabled woman, Terri Schindler Schiavo, from a court order to remove her feeding tube.

Because of his advocacy on behalf of nursing home residents, the state's Democratic attorney general appointed him to Florida 's Task Force on the Availability and Affordability of Long Term Care. He has also served as Chairman of the State of Florida Commission on Ethics and as a member of the State Constitution Revision Commission, for which he was awarded the Chairman's Award for the most effective debate.

Connor has been deeply involved in state and national politics and has had a leading role in presidential, congressional, and gubernatorial campaigns. In 1994, he was a contender for the Republican nomination for governor of the state of Florida .

Connor came to Washington , D.C. in 2000 to serve as President of Family Research Council, one of the nation's leading pro-family public policy organizations. During his three-year tenure at FRC, he directed the organization's course and was the chief communicator of its purpose, vision and public policy positions to legislators, opinion-makers and the media.

In addition to his 2004 book, "Sinful Silence," Connor is a published author whose articles on law, theology and public policy have appeared in a variety of publications, including USA TODAY, the Washington Post, Washington Times, Miami Herald , St. Petersburg Times , Tampa Tribune, Florida Bar Journal , Tabletalk and the Journal of the James Madison Institute . He has articulated his viewpoints in numerous TV interviews, appearing on ABC's "Prime Time Live," the MacNeil Lehrer News Hour, FOX Newschannel, CNN and the three broadcast news networks.

An adoptive parent, Connor has shown an unswerving commitment to the sanctity of innocent human life. He has served as President and Chairman of the Board for Florida Right to Life, Vice Chairman of Americans United for Life, and Chairman of the Board of Care Net, which has over 500 affiliated pregnancy care centers.

Connor received a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor ( cum laude ) from Florida State University where he ranked among its top law graduates. He and his wife Amy have been married for 33 years and have four children - Kathryn, Elizabeth, Caleb, and Joshua.
