My Mother had surgery in Dec.2004. She ended up in ICU for 5 weeks, because the staples leaked which caused her to become septic and very ill. It was a miracle that she recovered and continued on to rehab. After being in rehab for 30 days I was told that Medicare and her Medicare Advantage would no longer pay for rehab, she should be put on hospice. After research I found that she was eligible for Medicaid. We moved her to a nursing facility. They continued her rehab. After a long recovery, I eventually brought her home in 2006, where she lived the remainder of her life. She passed in 2009. I fought a long battle for her, but I will never regret it. There is so much more to this story and the battle. I would be happy to share our experience.
