Texas Holds Out Against Planned Parenthood

There’s an interesting conflict in Texas between the State and Planned Parenthood. The State recently passed legislation that bars abortion providers from receiving funds from its Medicaid program for women. The Obama administration responded by blocking federal funds. From LifeNews (click here to read the whole article):
In December, the Obama Administration refused to renew funding for Texas’ Women’s Health Program (WHP) because of new state rules that disqualify abortion business affiliates from participation in the program. The WHP encompasses Medicaid family planning services for low income women. The program started through authorizing legislation in 2005 and was renewed in the recent 82nd Legislative Session with new pro-life rules.
The State is now taking steps to launch its own program that will be completely State-funded. It’s encouraging to see elected official taking a stand against this ridiculous idea that we have to send millions of taxpayer dollars to an abortion provider. There are plenty of other places women can go to have their health care needs met. And Texas is showing how it works.
