Governor Defunds Planned Parenthood

Governor Chris Christie just defunded Planned Parenthood in the state of New Jersey by vetoing three spending bills. His staff claims that this was primarily a fiscal move, as the bills would have spent money the state doesn’t have, but pro-lifers should see the results as a great boon for life nonetheless. Planned Parenthood is the number one provider/referrer of abortions in the United States. You can find more details at The National Catholic Register and National Right to Life.
Abortion supporters are, of course, quick to state that Planned Parenthood provides many other “non-abortion” services that benefit women, but Governor Christie had a quick answer. From NRTL:
Gov. Christie responded that women could get the same services from other clinics and federally qualified health centers around the state.
This is one of the most often repeated excuses to fund Planned Parenthood. Abortion advocates keep the massive abortion-referrer funded by boasting about other services they provide. Meanwhile millions of unborn children are aborted (around one million per year – see more details by reading this pdf from National Right to Life).
There are plenty of other organizations that can provide needy women with the services they require. There is no need to continue to fund an abortion provider with tax dollars. Even if you aren’t a strong supporter of the pro-life movement, why use taxpayer dollars to fund such a controversial institution? It just doesn’t make sense.

Outstanding move! Finally, common sense rules out! I am sure this move took a lot of guts, but an informed conscience prevailed. Hopefully, other states will follow suit and the message sent will be loud and clear. We simply cannot invoke the Lord’s blessings on this country while we allow this holocaust to continue. We are ONE NATION UNDER GOD and always will be. Thank you Governor Christie for doing the right thing. May God bless you and all your works.
